In-suite heat pump for condominiums and ductless heat pumps

Heat Pump Systems

More Than Just Home Heating

Heat pumps offer an energy-efficient alternative to furnaces and air conditioners for all climates. Like your refrigerator, heat pumps use electricity to transfer heat from a cool space to a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During the heating season, heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house. During the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your house into the outdoors. Because they transfer heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can efficiently provide comfortable temperatures for your home.

Heat pumps are a terrific choice for condo owners. Heat pump systems are reversible in the summer months. If you don’t have a current air conditioning (AC) unit, the good news is that you get AC with the installation of a heat pump, with no additional cost. This is all achieved with the same extraordinary energy efficiency.

If you’re ready to increase the energy efficiency in your condo unit, call our office today to schedule your free, in-home energy assessment. You can also use our contact form to get in touch. We’re looking forward to hearing from you!

In-suite Heat Pump for Condominiums

Heat pumps are a great addition to your condominium home — in fact, it could be the best option for you in terms of energy efficiency and ease of comfort. Many condos are already on electric heat, which means the installation of a heat pump should be relatively pain-free. Many condo owners have their heat pump installed on their balcony or patio, which is often very convenient placement for excellent home heating. Installation can be as fast as one-half a day.

Heat pumps excel at providing energy efficient heat because of the process they use to warm a room. The exterior unit of the heat pump attracts errant heat in the outside air, sending it through a refrigerant within the coils of the unit. The heat energy continues its journey to the indoor condenser, where it is distributed to the interior space. In this way, the heat is being moved from one place to another — it isn’t being created by a furnace, as in other conventional home heating systems. Because of this, more energy efficient heat is practically guaranteed.

Ductless Heat Pumps

For homes without ducts, air-source heat pumps are also available in a ductless version called a mini-split heat pump. In addition, a special type of air-source heat pump called a "reverse cycle chiller" generates hot and cold water rather than air, allowing it to be used with radiant floor heating systems in heating mode.

Ductless mini split heat pumps are a great choice for homes or businesses with non-ducted heating systems, such as hydronic, radiant panels, and space heaters. They can also be a good choice for room additions, where extending or installing distribution ductwork is not feasible.

The main advantages of ductless heat pumps:

  • Small size and flexibility for zoning or heating and air conditioning individual rooms.
  • They are simple and fast to install in new or existing homes and businesses without significant disruption.
  • High efficiency.

  • ''A Plus Quality Inc/Heating and Cooling Services'' bailed me out of a difficult situation. My furnace quit with -18C° temperatures at 8pm on a Saturday. We had an infant at home and the house was cooling dramatically. By 10pm one of their technicians, Jack arrived and was able to show me how dangerous my situation really was. By 10am Sunday morning another technician, Dave began the installation of a new furnace. Shortly after, Jack joined in. Each gentleman was friendly, informative and answered all subsequent questions. Thank you for going above and beyond. Would highly recommend both technicians and the company they represent.

  • Today I had an unfortunate issue with my furnace resulting in a full replacement. At this point I was worried I would be without heat in the beginning of winter and started to prepare myself for the worse case scenario. I decided to call A Plus Quality Inc who I have been dealing with for a while in hopes that they would be able to bail me out of this jam, and that's exactly what they did. Within 5 hours they had 2 men at my home disassembling my old furnace and replacing it with a new one. I would've never thought I could've had this issue resolved in 1 day, let alone hours. The level of professionalism and customer service I received today was far more than I could've ever imagined. I have nothing but good things to say and would definitely recommend this company to anyone. Thanks again for all your help.

  • What is a heat pump?

Heat pumps use electricity to move heat from a cool space to a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During the heating season, heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house and during the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors. Because they move heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can provide equivalent space conditioning at as little as one quarter of the cost of operating conventional heating or cooling appliances.

  • Water is Leaking on my Furnace

Water falling on to the furnace can harm your heating unit by affecting the control boards and other components enclosed in the furnace. There can be many causes to the water overflow, but the most common cases in the summer is the ice build up inside the evaporator coil due to low refrigerant level. Water build up can also be due to the evaporator coil having a crack on the base, if this is the case contact us by booking an appointment or call us today to have a technician come have a look at your unit and repair this issue before it causes excessive damage.
